Daytona 1967 marked a significant place in history for Team Penske. Mark Donohue’s Penske Camaro led the race for several laps, but unfortunately he was forced to retire from the race. Although he did not win, this was the first Trans-Am race for Donohue and Team Penske. The #36 Camaro’s potential would not be realized for several races. Even with a slow start, by the end of the 1967 season the Team Penske Camaro would begin a history of total domination.
