Hemi Drag Engine - PreProduction Sample Orange Untamed Raw Horsepower!
In 1957 Chrysler motor corporation turned the motorsports world upside down when it ripped the word hemispherical from the dictionary and blasted it into the garages of households everywhere. When Chrysler launched the 392 “Hemi”, it had produced a power plant that would dominate the drag racing hemisphere for many years to come. The Chrysler 392 Hemi powered more top speed, record breaking, and low elapsed time drag racing machines, than any other engine in the 1960’s. The Hemi powered dragster broke the 170 mph barrier in 1958 and took the NHRA nationals in 1959. The extra heavy-duty qualities of the engine were perfect for nitro burning. With the addition of a supercharger and nitro, a 392 Hemi could easily produce 1500 horsepower. These additions gave the 392 Hemi the additional power to dominate the drag racing world in the 60’s.
